improving and expanding

after the launch of the 4.0 web platform we started right away to collect qualitative and quantitative data to see where we can make improvements and adjustments. we found a high percentage of users would watch from the shared content cards on the web and after some user testing we jumped into to working on a feature to let users save content to a library to watch later.

watching at the core

through user research, qualitative and quantitative feedback we knew the product was lacking a place for users to easily jump in and watch with their friends across multiple groups. for the user who wanted to watch anything with anyone across all of their groups, we wanted to provide an easy watch experience. the watch tab shows the user anything which is playing right now and if nothing is playing, gives them easy access to the library to watch something their friend or they have saved.

a mobile first approach

using mobile as the jumping point for the new navigation flow and feature set allowed me to keep focus on a simple, navigation stack as well as prioritize the features such as a shared library, room previews, and the watch tab. the addition of the consistent tab navigation helps to improve the usability and the first time user experience

following up with the web

after the mobile designs were complete, i updated the web platform to add the new library features in addition to adjusting the navigation structure to create better consistency across the platforms. adding the watch tab as well as the library features solved many of the issues we faced in our user testing sessions as they added better understanding for a first time user of the value of Rabbit. Additionally i adjusted the layout of the web launchpad to remove all horizontal scrolling and optimize the responsiveness of the feature.
